South of the regional centre of Catanzaro, Staletti offers excellent access to the beaches of the Ionian Coast (the Gulf of Squillace) on the east, and to the beaches of the Tyrrhenian on the west coast.

It's on the beaches of the Squillace Gulf you'll be spending most of your time though. This is a beautiful bay, renowned as one of the prettiest in Italy, with white sands and limpid azure waters. And though you'll want to beware the heat of the midday sun (this is Italy's Mezzogiorno after all) you'll delight in a region that enjoys round-the-clock, round-the-year sunshine. The Cassiodoro Hotel is an oasis of calm and peace, and Staletti itself is a soothingly verdant part of the coast. There is a choice of rooms (single or double) and apartments. Head up into the hinterland of Calabria, meanwhile, and you'll discover an unspoiled wilderness of soaring mountains (Calabria even has a thriving ski scene) and thick forests. Largely deserted (and depopulated over the last couple of hundred years) this part of Italy is now popular with hikers, drawn by its peace and other-worldliness. And there are lovely little coastal towns and villages to explore. Nearby towns to Staletti include Catanzaro, Montepaone Lido, Crichi, Lamezia Terme, Vibo Marina, Vibo Valentia, Soverarto and Falerna.
