San Remo (Sanremo) lies at the heart of the 'Riviera dei Fiori', that gorgeous sweep of the Italian Riviera that runs from the French border (just a few kilometres west of here) to Imperia in the east. Long popular for its extraordinarily mild micro-climate, the region of Liguria benefits from being tucked in the lee of the Maritime Alps just north of here.
