Hotel Rock, Maderno sul Garda

This hotel is situated on the western shores of Italy's largest lake, Lago di Garda. It is positioned between high mountains, vineyards and olive groves. For those driving through the Alps into Italy it gives a fascinating glimpse of all that is on offer to the south. It is almost 52 kilometres long and four kilometres wide in its southern reaches - a full 160km to circumnavigate this beautiful stretch of water surrounded by stunning countryside. There are many walking and cycling trails in the area and the local towns have museums, churches and a botanical garden to explore. The hotel is accessible from the A4 Milan-Venice autoroute.

The three-star Hotel Rock can be found in the town of Maderno del Garda. All the rooms come with air conditioning, direct-dial telephone, minibar, satellite colour television and a private bathroom/shower. There are ample car parking facilities at the hotel.

The surrounding area has much to offer including boat trips around the lake (during the summer there are guided tours of the Isola del Garda, owned by the Borghese family. There is also a superb variety of sporting activities on offer including horse riding, golf and sailing. The hotel has a swimming pool and free bikes for guests.

It's an idyllic setting. The Gulf of Maderno has a beautifully equable climate throughout the year. This Garda hotel, constructed in an old lemon grove on the shores of the lake, has been run since 1974 by the Zambiasi family. The family run the kitchen too, and take delight in bringing you typical fare from Lombardy and Italy, prepared with a certain flair.
