Hotel San Carlo, Turin
This small and welcoming Turin hotel was originally a 17th century mansion. Now, still facing the piazza from which it takes its name, the Hotel San Carlo has been completely renovated. Its comfortable 14 rooms - single, double or triple - each have central heating (some have air conditioning), en-suite bathroom, a telephone for incoming calls only, TV and fridge.
Parking is available. Safety deposit boxes, internet connection and general business facilities are all available at the front desk. Breakfast is not available but the friendly staff are happy to help with any enquiries about local restaurants and cafes, as well as general information on the city.
Just minutes from the main railway station (Porta Nuova) and all the fascinating sights of the city, this hotel is ideally placed to explore the downtown area. Just around the corner is the Egyptian museum and nearby is Via Roma. The Palazzo Madama, in Turin's main square Piazza Castello, houses a large collection of Roman artefacts. The Palazzo Reale has tapestries, furnishings and ornaments from the 17th to 19th centuries. On weekdays at the Piazza della Repubblica there's a market which sells mainly fruit, vegetables, local cheeses and breads.
This 17th century hotel in Turin offers modern comforts and is well located in one of the city's most elegant baroque piazzas. The churches of San Carlo and Santa Cristina can be found in the square and behind them two nudes representing the Rivers Po and Dora.
