This cosy B&B-style hotel in Chianti is set amid stunning Tuscan countryside between Montepulciano and Chianciano. The area is famous for its delicious Vino Nobile and Chianti wines and the surrounding hills are covered in olive groves, sun-kissed vineyards and pretty woodland.

There are panoramic views of Lake Trasimeno and Lake Montepulciano (where the LIPU bird oasis can be found). The Hotel Sangallo was named after the famous architect of the same name, who was responsible for the Church of San Biagio nearby. This is a lovely peaceful setting, yet, thanks to its proximity to the main road connecting Montepulciano and Chianciano, Tuscany's major cultural attractions are all within easy driving distance. Nature lovers will be in their element here - a small path leads directly from the hotel through a forest to the nearby Monte dei Cappuccini, with its Capuchin Monastery. There is also the crater of an extinct volcano here and the hot springs that surface on the mountain slopes are the same waters found at Chianciano's famous thermal spa.

There are 23 simply furnished, welcoming rooms at this Chianti accommodation, all with en-suite shower facilities, colour television and direct-dial telephone. The hotel grounds also contain three small apartments (sleeping two, four and four respectively) which have a separate kitchen. Small, well-behaved pets are welcome to join their owners here and there is a lovely garden with a specially designated play area for children.

This Chianti hotel has a small restaurant and a friendly lounge/bar. There is also a comfortable TV lounge and reading room where guests can get together or relax with a book or magazine. Staff are friendly and helpful and both English and French are spoken here. There is plenty of free parking as well as a safety-deposit service, a tourist information point and photocopying facilities.
