Hotel Savina, Rimini
Rimini's Hotel Savina offers 3-star comfort within easy reach of the town's fine sandy beaches. A delightful mix of traditional Romagna service, with modern elegance and a terrific location makes this a great choice for holidaymakers and business travellers alike. You'll probably spend whole days on the beach (which lies just 200 metres from the front door of the hotel), but there's plenty more to see in Rimini, with Roman remains including the Arco Augusto, Antifeatro and Ponte Tiberio. There is the Old Fish Market (now a fascinating antiques market), the remarkable Tempio Malatestiano (a grotesquely ornate chapel built for the town's ruler, Sigismondo Malatesta in the Middle Ages). Pope Pius II swiftly dubbed Sigismondo the 'most evil man in Italy' and excommunicated him.
You'll find lots of great places to eat on the seafront, with a host of affordable pizzerias and cafes as well as more upmarket restaurants, and snack bars on the Via Garibaldi. Rimini is, of course, a long-established favourite for Italian family summer vacations, and the eateries are just as good as you would expect. Clubbers should head to the south of the town: the beachfront area of Riccione has a lively clubbing scene, and some have dubbed it 'the Adriatic Ibiza'. Or head north to explore San Marino, one of the smallest countries in Europe (and one of the oldest, supposedly founded by a Christian slave fleeing Roman persecution in the fourth century AD).
This Rimini hotel has a nicely quiet position and 34 rooms furnished in contemporary style. All have bathroom with shower, phone and satellite TV. The hotel has a bar, restaurant, TV room and private parking lot.
