Lying 150 metres from the sea, in the Adriatic coast resort of Cervia, the Hotel Schiller offers three-star comfort in a relaxed setting. Cervia today is a modern seaside resort, but is does have an ancient history, being originally built by the Greeks and then conquered by the Byzantines in early Christian times. For around a thousand years its fortunes have been built on its salt pans - some of the world's finest salt is dredged from the marshlands that surround the town. Local sights include the Cathedral (Santa Maria Assunta), the Palazzo Comunale, St Michael Tower and of course the Museum of Salt. Nearby sights include Mirabilandia, the Dante Museum, Atlantica Park, the Ravenna Mosaics and Basilica San Vitale.
