Hotel Serena, near Lerici

This hotel, housed in a villa in traditional Italian style with red roof tiles, is located just outside the village of Cerri in the lower hills of Val di Magra. The property overlooks wooded slopes leading down to the Ligurian Sea. The town of Lerici is two kilometres away and transport is available from there to the beaches of Fiumaretta, Marinella and Bocca di Magra. The coastal town of La Spezia is six kilometres from the hotel and ferries are available from the port there to the beautiful island of La Palmaria and to the five villages which make up the Cinque Terre. Cinque Terre can also be reached by train from La Spezia and these quite unique villages, set on a coastline of wild and enduring beauty, are well worth a visit. The villages can also be toured on foot, using the well-marked footpaths.

Lerici's Hotel Serena is surrounded by a pretty flowered garden with a sunbathing terrace which affords excellent views down to the Mediterranean; a children's play area is also available. The 19 rooms have simple decor and furnishings and all are equipped with televisions and direct-dial phones. Breakfast is included in the price.
