The little spa town of Tabiano Terme (or Bagni di Tabiano) lies 525ft up, in the foothills of the Apennine mountains, in northern Italy's Emilia-Romagna region. This area of Parma province is famed for its waters, with bore holes sinking 1200 metres down into the rock, to draw up a water very high in bromines and salts. For centuries the waters here have put Tabiano Terme and its larger sister town of Salsomaggiore Terme, on the European 'spa map'.
