Hotel St. Leonard, Forio - Ischia
Via S. Gennaro 53, ForioThis Ischia hotel is situated near the charming town of Forio. On the western tip of the island, the old town is full of character and has some fascinating buildings. The Hotel St Leonard has a superb view of the sea, making it a relaxing and pleasant place to stay. The harbour is just a short walk away from the hotel, as are the world famous thermal spas for which people have for centuries been visiting Ischia.
This four-star hotel has a large open-air pool, filled with sea water (excellent for the skin of course). The hotel also has an indoor swimming pool filled with natural spring water which bubbles up ready-heated through Ischia's volcanic rock. There are sun terraces at the disposal of hotel guests, and these are a great spot on which to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery of this Tyrrhenian island.
If you want to travel further afield there's a free bus service which connects the hotel to the centre of Panza, a hub for public transport. The Hotel St. Leonard has a superb location: both quiet and at the same time near all the local amenities. The Poseidon gardens nearby are definitely worth a visit for nature lovers and a trip to any of the picturesque surrounding villages is a must. Forio has the Church of the Soccorso, and the La Mortella Gardens in Forio-San Francesco. (The villa here also includes a museum dedicated to the life of William Walton, who lived here and laid out the gardens). Head over to Ischia Ponte and you can see the Aragonese Castle, dating from 474BC: a testament to the strategic importance of Ischia in ancient times.
