A quite unique place to stay, the Hotel Torri Pepoli Resort offers some of the best views in Sicily. This luxurious four-star accommodation has been created within a renovated medieval watchtower in the hilltop town of Erice. Erice, in Sicily's Trapani province, sits 750 metres above the valley below. Views from here take in the entire western coast of Sicily, out to the Egadi Islands and, weather permitting, even as far as Tunisia.

The hotel has been carefully restored, with sympathy for the original structure, but with the addition of every modern comfort. All are air conditioned, with TV, telephone, radio and private bathroom with bath tub. Each room is different from the last, but all are furnished in a neo-Gothic style, with lush fabrics that perfectly complement this historic building. Great for work gatherings as well as vacations, there is a meeting room in a quiet part of the castle.

The hotel has WiFi internet access free for guests, there are gardens, and a dining room serving the best Sicilian cuisine and wines. The entire hotel is non smoking, and the front desk is open 24 hours a day for help and advice on where to go and what to see. Erice has a number of historic sights (including the cathedral and two castles) and a cable car takes you to the valley below. Days out could include a fine beach for swimming at Cala Bianca, or the Riserva Naturale dello Zingaro (nature reserve). There is the ancient temple at Segesta (a Doric temple dating from 424BC) and hydrofoil trips to the Egadi Islands from nearby Trapani.
