This attractive three-star hotel is located on Lipari, one of the Aeolian islands that lie off the north-eastern coast of Sicily in the Mediterranean sea. All 17 of these islands are volcanic in origin, and the scenery is a constant reminder of the hot springs and bubbling lava that lie deep underground. It's possible to visit Cran Cratere on the island of Vulcano - complete with sulphur smells and bubbling mud baths. Lipari is the largest of this string of islands and has wonderful beaches and fine views. The islands are now considered to be inactive, although steaming fumaroles can still be seen.

Lipari's Hotel Villa Augustus is built around a lovely courtyard planted with lemon and orange trees. There are 34 charming rooms here, each with a beautifully appointed en-suite shower room featuring a hairdryer and range of shampoos and toiletries plus a complimentary bathrobe, a personal safe, cable/satellite television, internet connection point and a minibar stocked with drinks and snacks.
