Hotel Villa Castellani, near Macerata
Hotel Villa Castellani is in Mogliano, some 10km south of the Italian Marches town of Macerata. Lying just out of town, it's still convenient for visiting all the main attractions such as the duomo or the numerous galleries and monuments. The duomo houses a statue of Macerata's patron saint, Giuliano, who is said to have returned home to find two people in his bed; believing them to be his wife and a lover he killed them on the spot. When he discovered it was actually his parents, he severed his arm in repentance. The arm is preserved in a silver-and-gold cast in the church vault. Outside Macerata, there are many picturesque medieval villages that warrant a day trip. The Chienti Valley is a 10km drive from the town and is home to the hillside village of Morovalle with its pretty stepped streets and diminutive Palazzo del Podesta.
This hotel near Macerata has an attentive management team, who pride themselves on offering a personalised service catering to guest's individual needs. There is a restaurant offering a wide selection of local specialities and a bar where guests can socialise, an outdoor swimming pool and a garden. There are many activities on offer in the nearby area, including a golf course and plenty of open countryside for rambling or mountain biking. Hotel services include valet parking, babysitting, laundry, internet access and left luggage. The rooms all have bathrooms, fully air conditioned and come with breakfast included in the price. They are equipped with complimentary toiletries, a coffee and tea maker, minibar, hairdryer, satellite television, telephone and security safe.
