Hotel Villa Imperiale, Lucera
What a terrific location - the Hotel Villa Imperiale sits atop a hill on the edge of the 'centro storico' of Lucera, within walking distance of the railway station in this ancient Puglia town. Yet despite being so close to the centre, this Lucera accommodation is pleasantly out of the buzz and bustle. Its rooms face away from the road and look, instead, onto the Dauno mountains, which themselves gently rise to become part of the Apennine chain which forms the spine of Italy.
It's a glorious location for business meetings in fact. Nicely quiet, and with two meeting rooms both with audio-visual facilities. There is the Federico II hall for larger meetings and conferences, and the C d'Angio for smaller events. There is internet access throughout the hotel. And when you've finished with business for the day, you'll find the front desk staff always on hand with ideas on where to go and what to do.
All of the bedrooms at this Lucera hotel have private bathroom with shower, air conditioning and individually controllable heating, direct phone line, safe, internet link, satellite TV and minibar. Rooms are single, double, triple or quadruple, so this is also ideal family accommodation. The hotel has a children's playground, a fitness centre, spa and wellness centre. There is a shuttle service to the airport. Lucera itself has a fascinating history, becoming home to 20,000 Arabs in 1224, when they were exiled here from Sicily by Holy Roman Emperor Frederick II. Local sights include the Hohenstaufen Castle, the Cathedral and the Museo Civico.
