In the town of Salemi, on Sicily's western coast, the Hotel Villa Mokarta is affordable three-star comfort, with an impressive roll call of facilities. Retaining an intimate and friendly ambience, it sits in a pretty green area some 600 metres out of the historic centre of town. There is a fine restaurant, offering delights of traditional Sicilian cuisine, and there is a very nice bar, for cocktails and local Sicilian wines. You have nicely manicured gardens and a terrace on which to relax.

The rooms are single, double, triple and quadruple, all with minibar, bathroom, safe, hairdryer, air conditioning, work desk, TV and phone. The hotel has meeting and banqueting facilities, baby sitting and child minding to allow you to leave the children and get out for a quiet dinner a deux, there are internet connections available, and the front desk is open around the clock.

There is much to see in this beautiful part of Sicily too, and you are never far from the coast, to north, west and south. There are the towns of Trapani and Marsala to explore - the latter with its saltwater lagoon and very good for watersports. There are lovely beaches north of here, such as in and around Castellamare del Golfo and Scopello. There are the archeological sites at Selinunte and Segesta, with the Greek theatre and the Temple.
