Hotel Villa Tina is conveniently located right at the centre of Viareggio's handsome promenade: this attractive Liberty-style building, dating from the early 1920s, has been lovingly restored to its former glory and is now a welcoming three-star hotel. The lobby is particularly impressive and visitors are greeted by a palatial hall with a beautifully decorated ceiling and a fabulous white-marble spiral staircase adorned with decorative cast-iron railings.

Viareggio was one of Europe's first seaside resorts and it's still hugely popular, especially among the yachting fraternity. Italians and foreign visitors alike flock here to enjoy the attractive Versilian coastline, which comprises more than 20 kilometres of gorgeous sandy beaches, fringing glorious nature reserves, fragrant pine forests and beautiful countryside. The charming medieval town of Lucca is just a few miles away and Pisa, Florence and Siena are all within easy reach.

Villa Tina has just 14 elegant rooms, many of which offer guests lovely views. All rooms have a tastefully decorated en-suite bathroom, minibar, colour TV, personal safe and direct-dial telephone. Rooms on the first floor are named after the style of their decor - Chippendale, Liberty and Deco and so on - while the second-floor rooms are modern in style, with stupendous views of the sea. Rooms are reached either by the lift or stairs. There is a babysitting service and small, well-behaved pets are welcome.
