Tuscany gets most of the press, but Umbria is much loved for its verdancy and its unrivalled collection of medieval hill towns. There is Assisi of course, with its cathedral of San Francesco one of the great medieval buildings anywhere in Europe. There is the lovely hilltown of Gubbio, and the very pretty Valle di Spoleto, with Spello, Trevi, Bevagna and Montefalco. And there is of course the Monti Sibillini national park.
