The Marcaneto Palace Hotel is on the southern coast of Campania, on Italy's Tyrrhenian seafront. A beautiful part of southern Italy, this is where Campania meets the neighbouring region of Basilicata. Set between Policastro Bussentino and Scario, the hotel is on the southern fringes of the Cilento national park, an enormous expanse of outstanding natural beauty, and with a coastline edged by beautiful and unspoiled (and largely uncrowded) beaches. The Cilento is a UNESCO World Heritage Site these days, and includes the marvellous Classical site at Paestum, with its trio of Greco-Roman Doric temples.
