This delightful little hotel in Ascoli Piceno is a real gem. Steeped in a long and fascinating history, it stands opposite the beautiful church of San Venanzio, close to the central Piazza del Popolo, in a building that was originally the home of a local tyrant who ruled the people of Ascoli Piceno with a rod of iron. Over the years, the building has served as a chancery, an ecclesiastical court and an archive for legal documents. Following a long programme of meticulous restoration and renovation, it is now an elegant hotel offering excellent standards of comfort and service in a unique, atmospheric environment. Known as the 'City of 100 towers', Ascoli Piceno lies in the heart of the unspoilt Marche region. The city centre remains beautifully unchanged for centuries and handsome Romanesque churches jostle with elegant Baroque, Gothic and Renaissance buildings in its attractive medieval streets.

There are just 35 rooms at the Palazzo Guiderocchi, Ascoli Piceno, all with excellent en-suite bathroom facilities and lots of lovely period detail. Furnishings are tasteful and elegant and everything is in keeping with the historic style of its surroundings. Many of the rooms have lovely views on to the cathedral and the medieval streets surrounding the hotel, and bathrooms are fitted with hairdryers and showers, while rooms are equipped with direct-dial telephone and a well-stocked minibar.

An excellent restaurant is sited in the atmospheric cross-vaulted hall, which opens onto a delightful internal courtyard and serves an eclectic selection of traditional Ascoli cuisine and classic regional Italian dishes. During the summer, guests are invited to dine outside in the courtyard itself. There is also an elegant bar with an extensive drinks list. There is 24-hour service on the front desk.
