Stadt Hotel Citta, Bolzano
In the middle of Bolzano's ancient centre, the Stadt Hotel Citta is the perfect place to stay to soak up the history and culture of the Trentino-Alto Adige region. With stunning views of the Dolomite mountains, Bolzano (Bozen) is an intriguing mix of Austrian, German and Italian influences.
Situated on one of the most important routes connecting the Mediterranean and northern Europe, Bolzano is a cultural crossroads. Framed by scenic Alpine mountains on all sides, Bolzano is home to more than 740 acres of grapevines supplying the city's 27 wineries. Attractions range from a room where Mozart stayed, an old Gothic cathedral, old churches and castles and the renowned Museum of Archaeology, home to the ice-mummy Otzi, an ancient climber caught in the freezing Dolomite snows and preserved for more than 5000 years, until his discovery in 1991.
Renovated in 2001, with particular attention paid to the period features, this three-star hotel is located opposite the city's central square, Walther, named after one of Germany's most famous minstrels. The comfortable rooms, reflecting the ancient architecture of the city, come with ensuite bathroom, hairdryer, telephone, colour TV and modem. The superior rooms have water mattresses. The hotel also has a wellness centre, where you can unwind in the sauna, Turkish bath and whirlpool or try out some Kniepp water therapy. Meeting rooms are also available. Close to the train and bus station, the hotel is within walking distance of the Portici shopping arcade and is easily accessible from Bolzano's small international airport.
